13 Verses From The Bible That Specifically Mention Meditation

Nearly every person knows that meditation originates in eastern countries such as India, China, and Japan. Many people instantly associate it with those areas, often ascribing to it a certain occult origin. This has led many people in the west to shy away from picking it up.
And yet…unknown to many, meditation has been part of western Christianity for centuries. In fact, it’s repeated openly and often in the Bible. And that’s not all! Catholics have been doing the rosary for a long time, a practice which is almost identical to mantras and the use of mantra beads in Buddhism and Hinduism.
Many Hindu mystics say this is because the heart of spirituality is to go within and connect to the Divine there; they believe this is the true heart of religion. Fascinating huh? Even more fascinating is that most people don’t know this, despite being raised in Christianity.
Here are a few blatant mentions of meditation in the Bible. Do you think Christian teachings and eastern philosophy share more in common than we realize? Are you a Christian who meditates as well?
