Each Human Keeps 13 Secrets, According to Psychologists

There are about 13,000 secrets that are usually kept by people from other people that they know.
Michael Slepian co – authored the study published in Journal of Personality and Social Pscyhology. The information that he contributed came from the study that he did in 2012.
According to his study, people who are keeping secrets from other people have the tendency to find various tasks as harder as compared to people who do not keep as much secrets.
Their level of perception has changed because of the secrets that they are keeping and this may be meant to stay this way until the secret is revealed.

WHAT ARE THESE SECRETS WE KEEP?

In the study, there were a thousand participants who stated the secrets that they were keeping from other people. The researcher is in charge of reviewing what the secrets are about. All in all, there were 38 categories that were formed.
The categories are considered to be broad though. For example, stealing money from a company and shoplifting from a store are considered to be part of the category ‘theft.’
Here are the 34 categories that were listed. Take note that these categories were shown along with the questionnaire:
  • Drug Use
  • Theft
  • Self Harm

  • Addiction
  • Harmed Another Person
There are some personal secrets that cannot fit in to any of the categories that are mentioned above.

13 OF THE MOST COMMON SECRETS

The different categories were given to new participants.
A lot of people in this world are keeping at least one secret from the list that will be mentioned below.
The study shows that at least five secrets are not given to any other person.
These are the most common secrets:
  • 60% – A lie or negative financial status
  • 47 % – Trust issues
  • 33 % – Theft, feeling unhappy at work, hidden relationship
What Happens When We Keep Secrets?
It has been shown that even though there is no chance that the secret will be discovered, they will still haunt us.
There are a lot of people who dwell on these secrets when they are alone. They might want to conceal the secrets from other people but when they are on their own, they remember each and every secret that they have.

This Japanese Breathing Technique Will Help You Lose Stomach Fat Fast

Miki Ryosuke, a Japanese actor, recently  discovered a natural method that helped him lose weight. After experiencing back pain, Miki’s doctor recommended he perform a certain exercise each day to help relieve his pain. After performing the exercise for a few weeks, Miki lost 28.7 pounds and 4.7 inches from his waist! Miki refers to the technique as the long-breath diet. You stand in position, take a three-second breath, then exhale strongly for seven seconds.

Does The Long-Breath Technique Really Work?

Marcelle Pick, an OB/GYN NP explained her view on deep breathing to Medical Daily. “Though not a substitute for exercise, it’s a great first step for women just beginning an exercise plan, and deep breathing enhances the benefits of any form of exercise,” she said. Deep breathing exercises provides the body with oxygen. The oxygen absorbs nutrients and can help rid the body of toxins, which can lead to weight loss.
Research conducted at Hampton University found that the combination of yoga and deep breathing exercises helped overweight teens lose weight. Sixty high school teens were divided into two group. The first group received 40 minutes of yoga and performed deep breathing exercises four times a week for 12 weeks. The second group stayed with their normal routine. Researchers found that the group who did yoga and deep breathing lost an average body weight of 6 pounds with no daily caloric intake restrictions.

How To Perform The Exercise

  1. Stand with one leg forward and the other back
  2. Strain your glute muscles while transferring your weight to your back foot
  3. Slowly inhale for 3 seconds while lifting your arms above your head
  4. Exhale forcefully but carefully for 7 seconds, while straining all of your body’s muscles
Perform this exercise every day for 2-10 minutes. It will allow your body to use more oxygen to help you burn fat, and it will also strengthen your muscle and increase your metabolism!

These 10 Behaviors Ruin Relationships! Avoid them!

Ahhh, a new relationship. When you’re first getting to know each other, you love each other’s little quirks and you can’t go a day without spending time together… The beginning of a relationship is great, isn’t it? Two people can be in complete bliss… Then somewhere down the road, a few weeks, months or even years later, something happens, leaving you scratching your head in confusion. What went wrong? If this has happened to you in the past, here are ten common behaviors that ruin relationships, and how to avoid them in the future:

1. Acting Single

Acting like you’re single shows that you don’t have respect for your partner. If you’d rather go out without checking in, or constantly make plans with other friends without involving your significant other or keep things from your partner, maybe it’s because you’d rather be single. Being in a successful relationship requires commitment and accountability.

2. Being Financially Irresponsible

If you and your partner share a bank account, spending money without thinking about the other person can lead to arguments, broken trust and eventually, a break-up. Sharing finances means you have a responsibility to your partner to spend money wisely and to consult with them before making any large purchases.

3. Having No Other Interests

Being able to spend time alone with your hobbies and interests is important in a healthy relationship. If you and your partner are constantly together, you won’t be able to have your own life, friends, interests, hobbies and alone time. Being too dependent on your significant other can deprive you of living your own life.

4. Being Insecure

Insecurity is a common problem, but it can lead to the demise of a relationship. Insecurity can cause jealousy, create trust issues and turn into a reoccurring theme in arguments. Without trust, a relationship can’t last, so you have to find a way to work through your insecurities.

5. Being Disrespectful

Rolling your eyes, being sarcastic and having no regard for your partner’s feelings are all forms of disrespect. When disrespectful behavior escalates, someone is bound to get hurt. Finding humor in tough situations can be helpful, but constantly poking fun at your partner can be hurtful.

6. Showing a Lack of Affection

Relationships can fall into a rut. Romance can fizzle out and the magic can disappear. When you see that start to happen, going out of your way to show affection is the best way to rekindle the fire. If you wait too long, it might be too late.

7. Being on Your Phone

Social media is huge these days, and it’s also caused an end to many relationships. Texting or being on your phone instead of communicating with your partner shows a complete lack of interest. Put the phones away when you go out to eat, watch a movie, or whenever you’re spending time together.

8. Being Dishonest

Dishonesty is a relationship killer. If you can’t be honest with your partner, then you don’t belong in that relationship. If you are the one being dishonest, find a way to break the cycle before your relationship suffers. If you’re constantly being lied to, it’s probably time to move on.

9. Behaving Compulsively

Compulsive behaviors are red flags when it comes to relationships. When a person is unhappy, they tend to reach for something else. Over-indulging in food, alcohol, shopping or any other vice is a sign that something is off, and a much-needed conversation is in order.

10. Nagging

Contrary to popular belief, nagging isn’t the fault of only one person in the relationship. Nagging occurs when one person repeatedly makes a request, the other person ignores it, and both become increasingly annoyed. The best way to end nagging is to address the issue. Both partners need to work to eliminate it from the relationship.

Struggling With Overthinking? Buddhists Have a Message That You Need to Hear

Problems. We all have them.
Some are small, others are big.
But whatever life is throwing our way, the one thing remains true:
We think about them. We think about solutions and worries, whether it’s productive or not.
However, sometimes this thinking can become so constant that it’s impossible to stop.
But if we want to take action in our lives and live in the moment, we need to learn to stop it.
The problem that we’ve all experienced, however, is that the harder we try to stop thinking, the more intense our thinking becomes.
So, what can we do?
According to Buddhism, it’s all about learning the art of acceptance and letting go.
Below we have some excellent advice from Buddhist Master Osho on how to cultivate a calm mind.

How to stop thinking

According to Osho, the first thing we need to realize is that thinking cannot be stopped. It only stops when the mind is left alone:
“THINKING cannot be stopped. Not that it does not stop, but it cannot be stopped. It stops of its own accord. This distinction has to be understood, otherwise you can go mad chasing your mind. No-mind does not arise by stopping thinking. When the thinking is no more, no-mind is. The very effort to stop will create more anxiety, it will create conflict, it will make you split. You will be in a constant turmoil within. This is not going to help.”
However, Osho admits that if you forcibly try to stop thinking, you may succeed. However, he warns that you won’t experience true stillness:
“And even if you succeed in stopping it forcibly for a few moments, it is not an achievement at all — because those few moments will be almost dead, they will not be alive. You may feel a sort of stillness, but not silence, because a forced stillness is not silence. Underneath it, deep in the unconscious, the repressed mind goes on working. So, there is no way to stop the mind. But the mind stops — that is certain. It stops of its own accord.”
Instead, Osho says that it’s far more fruitful to learn the art of acceptance and simply watch the mind work:
“Watch — don’t try to stop. There is no need to do any action against the mind. In the first place, who will do it? It will be mind fighting mind itself. You will divide your mind into two; one that is trying to boss over — the top-dog — trying to kill the other part of itself, which is absurd. It is a foolish game. It can drive you crazy. Don’t try to stop the mind or the thinking — just watch it, allow it. Allow it total freedom. Let it run as fast as it wants. You don’t try in any way to control it. You just be a witness. It is beautiful!”
Osho goes to say that overtime, you’ll begin to create a gap between the observer and the mind, which is he poetically calls “a taste of Zen”.
“The deeper your watchfulness becomes, the deeper your awareness becomes, and gaps start arising, intervals. One thought goes and another has not come, and there is a gap. One cloud has passed, another is coming and there is a gap. In those gaps, for the first time you will have glimpses of no-mind, you will have the taste of no-mind. Call it taste of Zen, or Tao, or Yoga. In those small intervals, suddenly the sky is clear and the sun is shining. Suddenly the world is full of mystery because all barriers are dropped. The screen on your eyes is no more there.”
Through non-attached witnessing, Osho says that eventually this will give you more control over the mind.
“Non-attached witnessing is the way to stop it without any effort to stop it. And when you start enjoying those blissful moments, your capacity to retain them for longer periods arises. Finally, eventually, one day, you become master. Then when you want to think, you think; if thought is needed, you use it; if thought is not needed, you allow it to rest. Not that mind is simply no more there: mind is there, but you can use it or not use it. Now it is your decision. Just like legs: if you want to run you use them; if you don’t want to run you simply rest — legs are there.”
So, what techniques can we use to quieten the mind? Firstly, Osho warns against drugs:
“The modern mind is in much hurry. It wants instant methods for stopping the mind. Hence, drugs have appeal. Mm? — you can force the mind to stop by using chemicals, drugs, but again you are being violent with the mechanism. It is not good. It is destructive. In this way you are not going to become a master. You may be able to stop the mind through the drugs, but then drugs will become your master — you are not going to become the master. You have simply changed your bosses, and you have changed for the worse.”
Instead, Osho says that using a technique like meditation is the correct way to control the mind, because you’re simply sitting their and watching the mind, without fighting against it.
“Meditation is not an effort against the mind. It is a way of understanding the mind. It is a very loving way of witnessing the mind — but, of course, one has to be very patient. This mind that you are carrying in your head has arisen over centuries, millennia. Your small mind carries the whole experience of humanity — and not only of humanity: of animals, of birds, of plants, of rocks. You have passed through all those experiences.
All that has happened up to now has happened in you also. In a very small nutshell, you carry the whole experience of existence. That’s what your mind is. In fact, to say it is yours is not right: it is collective; it belongs to us all.”

If You Use Facebook Messenger, This Is How You Are Being Recorded Even When Not On The Phone

Since Facebook was launched for public use, numerous claims have made their way to the surface exposing the social network for abuse of privacy. Now, it has been reported that Facebook Messenger can record your audio anytime they want, and you don’t have to provide permission.
Times have changed, obviously, and while text messages were once the main form of communication, now most conversations are held by use of Facebook Messenger. As a matter of fact, Facebook has reported that an astounding 900 million people use their services for not only the common people but also for businesses as well.
However, I would be willing to bet that the majority of that 900 million don’t realize that they are being recorded. And while many are shaking their heads as they read this article in disbelief, it is worth mentioning that according to The Independent, Facebook doesn’t refute the fact that they are in fact listening to you.

On the contrary, according to Facebook, the app does listen to what is happening around you, but they feign innocent on their intentions. Their claim is that they are spying on you in order to find out your interests so that they can suggest what you should post. Because that makes their spying totally less creepy, right?
And if you don’t believe us, delete your Facebook Messenger app. Now reinstall it. Within a few moments, you should see a few different pop-ups, including these:facebook2
Now notice the terminology in the terms of agreement.
Kelli Burns, who works as a mass communication professor at the University of Florida states that while the feature wasn’t available initially when she tested it recently by discussing certain topics around her phone to see if Facebook then used the information to customize her advertisements. And then, within moments, the site began to update the advertisements based on what she had said around her phone.
Facebook insisted to the Independent that while audio is used to customize your posts based on what is happening around you, they don’t record you to customize advertisements to fit your interests. Once again, still not less creepy.
There is good news, though. If you take the time to go in and change your settings, you can prevent Facebook from recording anything, or at least hope that you are anyways. On iPhones go to your app settings, then go to privacy, and switch the slider setting for the microphone. Android users will need to go to settings, then privacy, and change the permissions that are granted for Facebook. Unfortunately, with convenience also comes a loss of privacy in our technologically advancing world. For now, we must weigh the pros and cons for such apps, and decide to either risk having our privacy invaded or lose the convenience factors that such outlets provide. What do you think? Is it worth the risk?

The Cancer Dies When You Eat These Five Foods, It’s Time To Start Eating Them

Cancer is a malevolent disease that has struck terror on millions of people around the globe. However, many physicians and doctors claim it is the cancer drugs that is killing people, not cancer.
Chemotherapy is the most commonly used drug in the combat against cancer. It is extremely poisonous and the side effects are often the worst part of fighting cancer. Many people believe chemotherapy to just be a simple method of business. In fact, cancer is a huge business in America and lots of people are getting rich from it. it’s a $200 billion a year business. Yet 98 percent of conventional cancer treatments not only fail miserably, but are also almost guaranteed to make cancer patients sicker. That is exactly why you should resort to natural cures.
The earth has given us tons of different ingredients to beat even the worst of diseases – cancer included. With over 100 different types of cancer, it can become difficult to treat. However, there are many natural ingredients that have been clinically proven to eliminate cancer cells. For example, THC, the leading chemical in cannabis, can induce apoptosis in a cancer cell, the process in which a cell kills itself. More amazingly, it does this without harming any healthy cells! That’s not the only natural remedy that can cure cancer either. In fact, here are 5 foods that can kill cancer just by eating them!

Blueberries and Raspberries

Blueberries and raspberries contain powerful phytochemicals called anthocyanins which is a powerful disease fighting ability. Blueberries are an excellent source of vitamins C and K, manganese and a good source of dietary fiber. Blueberries are among the fruits highest in antioxidant power, largely due to their many phytochemicals. The phytochemicals are known to have a decreasing effect on oxidative stress and angiogenesis.

Coffee and Green Tea

EGCG and other green tea antioxidants have been found to stop cancer cells from growing, kill cancer cells, and prevent the formation and growth of new blood vessels in tumors.

Tomato’s

Like blueberries, tomatoes have an abundance of phytochemicals. The tomato’s red hue comes chiefly from a phytochemical called lycopene. Tomatoes have attracted particular attention from prostate cancer researchers because lycopene and its related compounds tend to concentrate in tissues of the prostate.

Dark Chocolate

Yes, even chocolate can cure cancer. In 2005, researchers at Georgetown University found that a compound called pentameric procyanidin was able to deactivate certain proteins in the body, causing them to stop building new tumor cells. Pentameric procyanidin is naturally found in chocolate.

Turmeric

The lead ingredient in turmeric is known as curcumin, and it has powerful anticancer effects too. Studies have shown that curcumin helps prevent several forms of cancer including breast, lung, stomach, liver, and colon because of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It stops the development of cancer by interfering with the cellular signaling aspects of the chronic disease.
