How We Research

Accuracy is the whole point of this site, so it’s worth being transparent about how each page is made.

  1. We start from the primary texts — the Pali Canon, the Mahayana sutras, and the recognised translations — not from other websites.
  2. Every factual claim is checked against a named source (a specific sutta or verse) before it’s written down. Quotes and verse numbers are verified, never approximated.
  3. Where traditions disagree, we represent each on its own terms and attribute it clearly.
  4. Each article is edited by Tim Yu and is not published until its sources are in place.

We are committed to adding named, credentialed subject-matter reviewers for doctrinal pages, and we will credit them by name here and on the pages they review. Until a reviewer is named, doctrinal pages are founder-authored and checked against the primary texts.

You can see the sources for any article listed at the foot of that article.
